Demand is growing on CT rail – Shore Line East.
Annual ridership on CT rail – Shore Line East has more than doubled since 1995.
The NEC is a critical part of CT rail – Shore Line East operations.
CT rail – Shore Line East operates service entirely on the NEC Main Line—and every rider utilizes the NEC. The majority of trains operate between New Haven and New London, with a limited number of trains extending between Stamford and New Haven.
The future CT rail – Hartford Line will introduce enhanced passenger rail service along another part of the NEC rail network. The New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Program is a series of investments that is modernizing and expanding capacity along the NEC Connecting Corridor to Springfield. In 2016, the state will launch the CT rail - Hartford Line, which will provide faster, frequent, and more reliable passenger service between New Haven (CT) and Springfield (MA).
